Hyderabad (Telangana): A Dalit woman has alleged that she was subjected to torture by police officers at Shadnagar police station, leading to a departmental inquiry being ordered. The woman claims she was called to the station over accusations of gold theft and subsequently assaulted in front of her minor son.
Speaking to reporters, the woman recounted the ordeal, stating that her husband was initially beaten and then released. Following this, she was forced to remove her sari and wear shorts. The police personnel allegedly tied her hands and legs before assaulting her, ignoring her desperate pleas for mercy.
Reacting to the serious allegations, Cyberabad Police Commissioner Avinash Mohanty issued a statement. The statement confirmed that the Detective Inspector (DI) of Shadnagar has been reassigned to the commissionerate headquarters pending a thorough investigation into the claims.
The Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) of Shadnagar is currently conducting an inquiry into the incident. The police department has assured that further action will be determined based on the findings of the inquiry report.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has also responded to the incident, underscoring the importance of a fair and transparent investigation to ensure justice is served.
