Hyderabad Hosts Star-Studded 69th SOBHA Filmfare Awards South 2024

Hyderabad: The 69th SOBHA Filmfare Awards South 2024, hosted by Kamar Film Factory, was held at the JRC Convention in Jubilee Hills on Saturday. The prestigious event recognized outstanding talent across Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam cinema, celebrating actors, singers, and technicians for their exceptional work.


Actor Nani and Chiyaan Vikram emerged as the Best Actors in Leading Roles for Telugu and Tamil cinema, respectively, for their performances in 'Dasara' and 'Ponniyin Selvan- Part 2'. Rakshit Shetty won the Best Actor award for Kannada with his role in 'Sapta Sagaradaache Ello', while Mammootty was honored for his performance in 'Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam', marking his 15th Filmfare award.


In the Telugu category, Shweta Mohan was awarded Best Playback Singer (Female) for her contribution to the movie 'Sir'. Srinath, known as Pranay Raja, was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his 57-year career in South Indian cinema. The late Ramoji Rao was also commemorated for his contributions to the industry.


The event also featured vibrant dance performances by Raashii Khanna, Aparna Balamurali, Saniya Iyappan, and Gayatri Bhardwaj.


In film categories, 'Balagam' won Best Film for Telugu, with Venu Yeldandi receiving the Best Director award. The Best Actor Critics’ Awards for Telugu were given to Prakash Raj, Naveen Polishetty, and Vaishnavi Chaitanya. Ravi Teja, Brahmanandam, and Rupa Lakshmi won Best Supporting Actor awards.


For Tamil cinema, ‘Chithha’ won Best Film, with S U Arun Kumar as Best Director. Siddharth Suryanarayan received the Best Actor (Male) Critics award for ‘Chithha’. Aishwarya Rajesh and Aparna Das won Best Actor (Female) Critics for ‘Farhana’ and ‘Dada’. Vikram won Best Actor in Leading Roles for 'PS-2', while Fahadh Faasil and Anjali Nair took home awards for Best Supporting Roles.


Malayalam cinema saw ‘2018’ win Best Film, with Jude Anthany Joseph as Best Director. Jyotika won Best Actor (Female) Critics for ‘Kaathal The Core’, and Joju George won Best Actor (Male) Critics for ‘Iratta’. The Best Music Album award went to 'RDX', with K S Chithra and Kapli Kapilan winning Best Playback Singer awards.


In Kannada, Hemanth M Rao was awarded Best Director for ‘Sapta Sagaradaache Ello’, and ‘Daredevil Musthafa’ was named Best Film. Rakshit Shetty and Siri Ravikumar won Best Actors Lead for their roles in ‘Sapta Sagaradaache Ello’ and ‘Swathi Mutthina Male Haniye’.


The red carpet was graced by stars including Nani, Jyotika, Mammootty, Aishwarya Rajesh, Siddharth, Keerthi Suresh, Priyamani, Brahmanandam, and Allu Aravind, adding glamour to the event.
