TTD Aims to Improve Quality of Annaprasadam Rice

Tirumala: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) is focusing on enhancing the quality of rice used for Annaprasadam, the sacred food offering at the temple. In a recent meeting held in Tirupati, TTD Executive Officer J. Syamala Rao engaged with representatives from the Rice Millers’ Association of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

The meeting, which took place on Wednesday, sought to discuss ways to improve the standards of rice used in the Annaprasadam preparation. The EO requested rice millers to provide specifications that would elevate the quality of rice during procurement, which will be incorporated into future tenders.

The rice millers suggested several parameters for improving the rice quality and also highlighted the need for an upgrade in the cooking equipment at Vengamamba Annaprasadam. The current equipment, they noted, is over 15 years old and in need of modernization.

Responding to these concerns, EO J. Syamala Rao assured that TTD was already considering changes in the cooking methods and would address the equipment issues soon.

The meeting was attended by both Joint Executive Officers, Goutami and Veerabrahmam, Deputy EO Annaprasadam Rajendra Kumar, EE Procurement Murali Krishna, and Special Catering Officer Sastry, all of whom are involved in the ongoing efforts to improve Annaprasadam offerings.
